“A living symbol of the best in Russian art,” (Miami Herald) Grammy-winning Russian National Orchestra returns to Orange County with its esteemed music director Mikhail Pletnev in an electrifying performance.
The first independent national orchestra in Russia’s history, the Russian National Orchestra was founded in 1990 by Grammy-winning pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev, who got his start after winning the first prize at the 1978 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition. Maintaining an active international schedule, the RNO has appeared in the music capitals of Europe, Asia, and the Americas, is a frequent guest at festivals such as Edinburgh, the BBC Proms, and Festival Napa Valley, and presents the RNO Grand Festival each September to open the Moscow season.
Everything is exquisitely played by the Russian National Orchestra, whose refinement has opened a new chapter in Russian orchestral playing.
