featuring James Ehnes, Inon Barnatan, Jonathan Vinocour, and Raphael Bell
Pre-concert lecture at 7pm by Suraj Partha
Artist replacement: As of 8/19/25, this quartet has replaced Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen on the Philharmonic Society's season.
Violinist James Ehnes is joined by pianist Inon Barnatan, violist Jonathan Vinocour, and cellist Raphael Bell for a captivating program of Gabriel Fauré’s two piano quartets. The youthful First Piano Quartet, full of intoxicating melodies, is paired with the impassioned and strikingly individual Second Quartet. Among his best-known chamber works, Fauré’s piano quartets are exquisitely crafted and ideal vehicles for these four superb artists and musical soulmates.
“The wondrous James Ehnes [is] a thinker of the violin as well as a supreme virtuoso of the instrument… an artist of the first order.”
