Donor advised funds (DAFs) have become one of the most popular giving vehicles today, largely because of the tax benefits they offer. Think of a DAF as a dedicated charitable investment account: you place cash, securities, real estate, or other assets into a fund managed by a sponsoring organization (Schwab Charitable, Fidelity Charitable, and the Orange County Community Foundation are common choices). Once the assets are in the fund, they can grow tax-free, and you can recommend grants to the causes you care about, including organizations like the Philharmonic Society, whenever you're ready.

If you're 70½ or older, the IRS allows you to direct your Required Minimum Distribution straight to a qualifying charity without owing income tax on that amount. IRA Distributions are one of the most efficient ways to give! Simply reach out to your IRA Custodian and provide them with our organization's name, mailing address, and Tax ID number. Be sure to ask them to include your name on the transfer paperwork so we know the gift came from you and can thank you properly!
