Education Overview

Established in 1956, the Philharmonic Society’s nationally recognized youth music education programs have enabled millions of children to encounter classical music—many for the first time. Under current school budgets, funding for arts education has been heavily sidelined or cut altogether. The Philharmonic Society’s youth music education programs, offered at no charge to schools, students or parents, have been one of the primary supplements to make up for the lack of funding for music education in our county’s schools and reach more than 100,000 students, from kindergarten through high school, each year.

The dedicated members of the Society’s principal fundraising and volunteer force, the Committees of the Philharmonic Society, work relentlessly to ensure that an extraordinary array of music education programs continues to be made available to students.

COVID-19 Update: Even in this precarious time, the Philharmonic Society of Orange County remains committed to enriching lives through music by creating virtual offerings of our wide spectrum of Youth Music Education programs.
