In an exclusive appearance all the way from the United Kingdom, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director Vasily Petrenko will make Orange County home during a week-long residency of concerts, education, and community engagements. 

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform three unforgettable concerts, including a side-by-side with the Orange County Youth Symphony and engage with our Orange County community in unique and special ways beyond the stage.

Music Director Vasily Petrenko leads the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on an evocative musical journey through Rimsky-Korsakov's nautical and imaginative Scheherazade in the first concert of their Orange County residency. Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers will join the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.

Musicians will participate in sectionals, Q&A sessions, and a social hour with RPO musicians, giving the opportunity to learn insights, collaborate, and forge connections with accomplished musicians in the industry.

Santa Ana High School

FREE Family Concert with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
The Philharmonic Society will present the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a FREE family concert at Bill Medley Auditorium – Santa Ana High School. The concert is free and open to the public and will feature “Heroes vs Villains” music with family-oriented activities before the concert. Learn more

This performance marks a special “homecoming” for the Philharmonic Society during the organization’s 70th anniversary season, as Santa Ana High School served as the venue for the Philharmonic Society’s inaugural concert on May 22, 1954.

RPO musicians will visit a local elementary school for a performance that will capture the imaginations of their young audience members and hopefully spark a lifelong love for classical music.

RPO musicians will visit local high schools for masterclasses, providing a rare and unforgettable opportunity for students to learn from these world-class musicians.

STROKESTRA® Workshop (closed to the public)
Held with RPO musicians, UCI Health Clinicians, UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts music students, and recovering stroke patients and their caregivers, this workshop will cultivate a safe space for group creative music-making and facilitate musical exercises designed to support stroke recovery.

Creative Music Making Professional Development Workshop (closed to the public)
Hosted by a RPO workshop leader, this interactive workshop will give local high school music directors the opportunity to learn new teaching techniques to foster creative and collaborative musicmaking environments within their classrooms.
