A meditation on memory and transformation, this program traces how melodies evolve across time, memory, and imagination. Silver Medalist at both the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (2009) and the International Tchaikovsky Competition (2011), Yeol Eum Son brings virtuosity and poetic insight to a wide-ranging program spanning works by Beethoven, Czerny, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff.
Works by pioneering women pianists and composers—De Larrocha, Landowska, and Nikolayeva—offer distinct interpretive worlds, re-centering the piano tradition through their artistry and interpretive vision, before Earl Wild’s virtuosic Reminiscences of Snow White closes the evening in dazzling, virtuoso spectacle.
