Established in 1958, the Philharmonic Society’s nationally recognized youth music education programs have enabled millions of children to encounter classical music—many for the first time. Under current school budgets, funding for arts education has been heavily sidelined or cut altogether. The Society’s youth music education programs, offered at no charge to schools, students or parents, have been one of the primary supplements to make up for the lack of funding for music education in our county’s schools and reach nearly 200,000 students, from kindergarten through high school, each year.
The dedicated members of the Society’s principal fundraising and volunteer force, the Committees of the Philharmonic, work relentlessly to ensure that an extraordinary array of music education programs continues to be made available to students. The Society’s youth music education programs serve all public and private schools in Orange County.
