Bassist/composer Edgar Meyer and Glasgow based Scottish Ensemble join together for a special program featuring a new commission written and performed by Meyer. Meyer and the Scottish Ensemble first collaborated in 2008 with a highly successful multi-city tour of Scotland. Eager to join forces again they combine their respective energies, genre bending traditions and unique musical influences to bring this special pairing to North America for the first time.

Archetypes explores the universal symbolic archetypes that appear in stories, legends, and myths throughout the world as well as characters that appear in stories across cultures. Expressing themselves through guitar, voice, and percussion quartet, legendary guitarist Sergio Assad, along with Clarice Assad's spellbinding vocals and the rhythms of Grammy-award winning Third Coast Percussion will explore global musical traditions taking the audience on a vast musical journey grounded in familiar stories.
