A Shanbrom Family Concert | A Dean Corey Legacy Concert
Recently inducted into the Gramophone Hall of Fame,
Sir James Galway is a living legend of the flute and one of the supreme interpreters of the classical flute repertoire. Galway’s musical career spans more than five decades, first playing in the Philharmonia Orchestra in the 1950s then in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Herbert von Karajan until 1975 before launching his career as a soloist.
This season, “The Man With the Golden Flute” shares the stage with his premier flute duo partner and wife
Lady Jeanne Galway to perform alongside the
Irish Chamber Orchestra under conductor
JoAnn Falletta. Showcasing works by Irish composers Harty and Hammond, the performance also includes Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D major, as well as his final, longest, and arguably greatest symphony, “Jupiter.”
