Adventures in Classical Music

Date: 12/7/2012

Last month we had an incredible start to our 2012-13 concert season at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Three practically back-to-back concerts featuring two world-renowned orchestras and conductors, and each night was a packed house. It's the stuff of dreams for organizations such as ours, and we are grateful to music lovers like you who support us and make this all possible.

Our Opening Night in the Renée & Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall took place November 14th, with Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra of London. The repertoire consisted of Beethoven and Berlioz. It was a thrilling performance (with multiple encores)!

That night, we had a group of students from Chapman University in attendance, including Maggie Darby, arts editor for the school newspaper. She wrote an article for the paper about her experience attending the concert, saying, "I did not have the best attitude about being dragged to what I thought would be a boring concert. Boy, was I mistaken... It was one of the best concerts I've been to, and I would love to go again someday." We hope she will, and bring her friends, too!

We love hearing feedback from you about our concerts. Feel free to send them our way by e-mailing contactus@philharmonicsociety.org.
